RSVPs are now open for CoinFest Kansas City, Omaha, Orange County and Washington DC, as well as Manchester and Vancouver. A couple cities dropped out of the running, however, so the map was updated. More details are being added as they are confirmed... keep informed at http://www.coinfest.org/coinfest-2016/
More details have been added for CoinFest Washington D.C., and Kumasi, Ghana and Amsterdam are now listed... keep in the loop, as it updates fast: http://www.coinfest.org/coinfest-2016/
Prizes are being announced for the decentralized games, lasting the duration of CoinFest. The Huntercoin community has put down 30K HUC--currently worth around 0.75 BTC--as prize money reserved for players who can stay alive. CoinFest Global will also contribute 1 BTC to the prize pools for Grabbit games held throughout April 5-10.
Airbitz has become our latest Global Sponsor and the official wallet of CoinFest 2016. With their help, we will give .005 BTC to first-time Bitcoin users at events around the world. Stay tuned for a lengthy post with lots of details about all kinds of cool stuff.
GameCredits is now a Global Sponsor in addition to being a CoinFest UK sponsor. Their game TurboCharged will be part of the Decentralized Arcade, and they'll be on the Gaming on the Blockchain panel that was just added to the International Hangout--please see the new Hangout schedule. You'll also notice that we have another activity called the Wheel of Bitcoin, where Tim Tayshun shows up on the projector screen at events around the world and spins the wheel for a lucky guest. The guest wins whatever prize the Wheel lands on, which includes novelties like a BitNation hardware wallet and 100 trillion Zimbabwean dollars.
The map has been updated, some dots removed, some dots added. The first day of CoinFest begins on April 5 in Amsterdam and St. Imiers, with Bitcoin4Beginners and CoinFest Switzerland. The latter will last for 6 days (until the end), making it the longest CoinFest event ever held.
More details have also been posted about CoinFest in Niagara, Canada, Bangalore, India, Tampa Bay, Florida, and other cities across the United States. Bitcoins are being dispatched from the 10-of-15 multisig wallet to fund prizes and giveaways; don't miss the action tomorrow and stay tuned for more announcements.
Happy CoinFest, everyone! Tomorrow will be the first Grabbit games, a product of Gamerholic & GamerholicCoin. We've put .1 each in two prize pools for Europe and East Asia to participate in; events will occur in Vancouver, Tampa Bay, Switzerland, Amsterdam and Korea. Please check the schedule so you don't miss Andreas Antonopoulos (20:00 UTC).
More last-minute changes have been made to the global map, as well. Some planned events were lost, but Korea and Niagara were added, and a surprise is brewing in Shanghai. More news tomorrow!
CoinFest Ghana has been postponed until next week because the organizer's daughter is in the hospital; we're making an exception to the rule due to the circumstances.
Here are the rest of the presentations streamed from CoinFest Vancouver yesterday. We all had a great time, and got drunk & distracted for a little bit:
CoinFest UK and Switzerland had an awesome time, and the latter is still ongoing. Today features events in the American Midwest and California, with the CoinFest Orange County organizer squaring off in a debate against a Onecoin scam artist. You can watch that, here:
